According to the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, there were more than 9,360 car accidents across the state that resulted in 11,619 injured persons and 762 fatalities. If you or someone you love was injured, or if your family lost a loved one in a car accident, you are entitled to financial compensation.

The laws of the state do allow you to pursue compensation from the at-fault driver and their insurance company on your own. Doing so can be risky and complicated, though. If you hire a personal injury law firm to represent you, your case will benefit you in a variety of ways. Our familiarity with state and local insurance and personal injury law will also work in your favor.

Hiring A Car Accident Attorneys Lets You Focus On Your Physical Recovery
A collision between two vehicles is a serious, traumatic, and dangerous event. The injuries you sustain in a car accident can range from minor to severe. In Oklahoma, injuries are classified according to severity. According to the state’s KABCO scale:

• K injuries are fatalities. They include immediate fatalities and those that occur within 30 days of the accident and as a direct cause of the accident.
• A injuries are serious. They include injuries severe enough to cause you to be incapacitated and prevent you from walking or engaging in any physical activity you enjoyed prior to the accident.
• B injuries are minor. They will not impede your mobility but can cause temporary pain and discomfort that will respond to treatment.
• C injuries are possible injuries that may not have been reported.
• injuries are not injuries at all. Instead, this letter is used to signify car accidents that resulted only in property damage.

Understanding the type and severity of your injuries is important to your post-accident health and to accurately assess the medical portion of your injury case. While you focus on your recovery and on helping a loved one recover, we will focus on building your case and fighting for your compensation.

Car Accident Lawyers Will Build A Compelling Evidence File For You
Proving the other involved driver caused your accident and is responsible for compensating you depends on the evidence you gather. According to American Bar Association (ABA) guidelines, most car accidents and other personal injury cases are settled out of court based on the weight of the evidence.

The evidence we collect for your case file will include:

• Medical records and bills
• Written future prognosis
• Employment and salary history
• Official car accident report
• Accident scene and injury photos
• Lay witness statements
• Expert witness statements

While the majority of car accident cases will not go to court, you definitely want one of our personal injury lawyers on your side if yours does. Do not hesitate to contact us today by calling (918) 796-5780 for a free review of your case.

Personal Injury Lawyers Will Make Sure You Do Not Run Out of Time To File Your Lawsuit
If your car accident happened anywhere in the state of Oklahoma, their statute of limitations will determine how much time you have to file your lawsuit. If it takes too long for the at-fault party or their insurer to make an acceptable settlement, our lawyer will file your lawsuit.

According to Oklahoma’s personal injury laws, you generally have:

• Two years from the date of the accident to file a lawsuit if you or someone you love was hurt or had property damage
• Two years from the date of a loved one’s demise if it was caused by, or as a result of, the accident

The at-fault party’s insurer will watch the statutory clock as closely as we will. We will ensure your case is filed in time to comply with Oklahoma’s statute of limitations and remove the risk of having your case dismissed or having the court refuse its filing at all. In other words, we stop at nothing to protect your right to recover damages from the negligent driver.

Car Accident Lawyers Will Make Sure Your Case Is Not Undervalued or Underpaid
A car accident can lead to an incredible array of unexpected bills and expenses. While you concentrate on getting better, we make sure none of your recoverable damages are overlooked.

These include economic damages like:

• Current and future medical expenses
• Current and future income loss
• Loss of future earning capacity
• Healthcare-related travel expenses
• Vehicle damage or complete loss
• Diminished property value

We also make sure you recover non-economic damages like physical disability and disfigurement, ongoing physical pain and suffering, mental and emotional anguish, and diminished quality of life.

Our car accident lawyer will also help surviving families collect several types of wrongful death damages. Your loved one’s funeral and burial costs are recoverable by specific family members.

Spouses can also recover damages for their loss of consortium and society; children can recover damages for their loss of parental guidance and support. We will explain which family members are eligible and ensure their compensation request includes the loss of their loved one’s financial and domestic contributions.

Automobile Accident Lawyers Can Explain Relevant Laws In Plain Language
The days and weeks after a car accident can be confusing and filled with personal injury and insurance terminology and jargon. When we handle your case, we will break down every law that pertains to your case into easily understandable language and into bite-sized pieces of information.

We also take the mystery and confusion out of insurance forms and court documents that can be confusing. We mean it when we say we take care of every detail – big and small – that relates to your case so you can spend your time and energy taking care of yourself and your family.

Trampolines are fun, but when used incorrectly can be quite dangerous and lead to serious injuries. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), “Trampolines should never be used unless athletes are being supervised in training for a sport like diving or gymnastics.”

Recently over the years, the number of trampoline injuries has increased significantly, which has led to broken arms, legs, ankles, and other parts of the body. Injuries can also include trauma to the neck, head and spinal cord, with some resulting in permanent paralysis including death. The most common user of trampolines is children, which are the ones who suffer from these types of injuries the most. Due to this risk, pediatricians across the country have published various studies on the issue of why children should not use them. The following seven statistics were among some of the most serious findings:

Trampolines continue to cause hundreds of thousands of injuries every year. According to NBCnews.com, even after adding the safety nets, there is not much of a difference when it comes to the number of injuries caused by trampolines. Just in the year 2006, reports provided by the Consumer Product Safety Review stated the estimated number of injuries was 109,522 from ages across the board from younger than 4 to older than 65. However, from 2002 to 2011, there were more than 1 million people who sought emergency treatment due to some type of trampoline-related accident.

Nearly 93 percent of the fractures seen in children under the age of 16 are related to trampolines.

More than one person jumping might be fun; however, it is the cause of 75 percent of trampoline injuries: Human nature is to show off when people are around friends or family. This can cause an issue when children are doing stunts, or even when multiple people are jumping at the same time. The likelihood of a spinal-cord injury happening increases exponentially when stunts are attempted or when a person falls off a trampoline.

Children 6 and younger should not be allowed on a trampoline. As children are growing, bones are not as strong as someone who is older and more developed. According to a story in the Chicago Tribune, “the smallest jumpers are at a greater risk ” Of all injuries that are found in children under the age of 6, approximately 15 percent of those are related to trampolines. For accidents evaluated in the emergency room, up to 37 percent are young patients involved in trampoline-related accidents. The highest risk of serious injury in young children is spine and leg fractures.

Permanent neurological damage occurs in 1 out of 200 injuries. Injuries to the head and neck are the most dangerous and even more permanent than the common sprain, contusion, or fracture. Head and neck injuries account for 10-15 percent of all related trampoline injuries and can potentially lead to permanent neurological damage or lasting cervical spine injuries.

Injuries increase yearly due to trampoline accidents, and over 4 percent of injury victims are admitted to the hospital instead of being just treated in the emergency room. In a 2016 study, admission to the hospital, whether it is for surgery or serious pain, can happen regardless of whether the location of the accident is at a trampoline park or at an individual’s home.

Trampoline injuries happen at the injured victim’s home more than 95 percent of the time.

Trampolines may be fun, but the risk is too great to take a chance when it comes to your family’s safety. Knowledge is key, and people need to be aware of the risks involved and the potential harm that can be caused from a trampoline accident.

If you or a loved one has been involved in a trampoline-related accident, call on the expertise of Larby & Associates at (918) 796-5780 to provide you with a free consultation regarding your potential claim. Larby & Associates has significant experience in all area personal injury related claims, including: Automobile Accidents; Trucking Accidents; Premises Liability; and Defective Products & Dangerous Drugs. We will work tirelessly for you to maximize any recovery to which you may be entitled. The financial compensation you deserve could be only one phone call away. Call Larby & Associates today.

Many myths exist concerning personal injury claims in the United States. Whether it is the result of wildly reported news stories, advise from family or a friend who has gone through the judicial process, or by just not knowing how the law applies in the context of a personal injury claim, myths have developed and appear in most places. A sample of common myths out there in the public domain includes:

Speaking with a personal injury attorney will cost a lot of money and hiring one costs even more: Frequently, personal injury attorneys will often provide free consultations for potential clients. These free consultations are designed for both parties to get acquainted with each other, ask questions before either decides to hire or be hired and most come with no cost upfront. Often, personal injury lawyers will work on a contingency fee basis. A contingency fee arrangement is where the risk is shifted to the attorney by funding and prosecuting a case in exchange for a percentage of the recovery. Without this arrangement, the vast majority of injured victims would be precluding from litigating their case due to the high cost of litigation.

My costs due to the accident will be completely covered by insurance: Regardless of your monthly premiums, a number of insurance companies will always place profit levels above helping you. Their goal is for you to take a settlement while paying you as little as possible. Nevertheless, relying on your insurance company to do the right thing is not something you should expect. Also, look for policy exclusions in your plan booklet to see if a particular type of injury is covered. If not, you may be stuck with a bill far in excess of an insurance policy’s limits available for you to collect on.

The at-fault party did this to me, and they are responsible for paying for my injuries: Although this would be the logical result, it will actually be the at-fault party’s insurance company that will step in and provide the cost of defence to their insured and also pay for any damages up to the limits of their insured’s policy. Most motorists in Oklahoma only carry the minimum compulsory rate policy which will cover up to $25,000.00 for your personal injury claim. However, if your medical bills exceed the policy limits, you will have to look elsewhere to ensure the balance is paid.

I only have minor injuries so it is not worth talking to an attorney: If you think you need to call an attorney, then your injuries are to a point where your body is telling you the injury may be more serious than initially thought. Remember that initial consultations are normally free. A minor injury might seem minor at first, but it might be revealed to not be minor at all after proper diagnostic testing is performed. A lot of times individuals will think the pain will go away and downplay how bad the injury could be, but what you think is a small injury could just be the tip of the iceberg of what has actually happened to your body. Small injury or not, always take the safe route and contact an attorney to determine if you have a case worth pursuing.

If I change my mind about consulting an attorney, I can still file a lawsuit whenever I’m ready: While this statement is partially true, there is still only a limited time in which a personal injury lawsuit can be filed due to the statute of limitations, which can vary by state. Once you are past the statute of limitations deadline, your ability to file a personal injury lawsuit may be precluded as a matter of law. This is why seeking the advice of an attorney immediately following your accident is always a safe and cautious option to consider.
